Steven Rosenfeld, M.D
Board Certified

A native New Yorker and founder of El Rio OB/GYN Associates, he attended NYU for his undergraduate degree in biology, fine arts and Spanish. In 1984, he graduated from New York Medical College and completed his residency at St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, New Jersey in 1988. He is an expert skier and enjoys playing roller hockey. Dr. Rosenfeld has been married to Jill since 1984. Art collecting, music and travel are some their favorite activities. They have three children.

Gerardo "Jerry" Carlos, M.D., R. Ph.
Board Certified

Also one of the group's founders and a native Arizonan, having grown up in Nogales. He obtained his pharmacy degree at University of Arizona and is a die-hard Wildcat fan. He graduated from the Medical College of Wisconsin in 1984 and completed his residency at Maricopa Medical Center in Phoenix in 1988. Dr. Carlos is a talented percussionist and plays in several local Tucson bands. He also has a special interest in computers. He and Kathy, a former L&D nurse, married in 1988 and have three daughters.

Jose A. Rios, M.D.
Board Certified

Dr. Rios was born in Michoacan, Mexico, and lived most of his life in Santa Barbara, California. He attended UC Santa Barbara for his undergraduate degree and graduated in 1989 from the University of California at San Diego School of Medicine. After completing his residency at the University of Arizona, he joined El Rio OB/GYN Associates in 1993. He is an avid hiker and especially enjoys extreme hiking in the Grand Canyon. He also loves good food, music and spending time with friends and family. He has been married to Alicia since 1981, and they have two daughters.

J. Manuel Arreguin, M.D.
Board Certified

A native Californian, who grew up in Los Angeles, he is a UCLA Bruin through and through. He obtained both his undergraduate and medical degrees from The University of California at Los Angeles . He also completed his residency training at UCLA. He practiced medicine in Nogales, Arizona for several years before joining El Rio OB/GYN Associates in 1995. Dr. Arreguin is a very accomplished pianist and has played in several local bands. He also enjoys camping, traveling and playing basketball. He is married to Roxanne, and they have three children.

Annette Hernandez-Parkhurst, M.D.
Board Certified

Dr. Hernandez was born and raised in Tucson. She graduated from Sunnyside High School and went on to continue her education at the University of Arizona, receiving a degree in dietetics. She spent four years in the Army as a dietician and achieved the rank of captain. She returned to the U of A to obtain her medical degree, and completed her residency training in San Antonio at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center. She enjoys cooking and spending time with her family and friends. She is married to Eric and they have three children.

Lili A.C. Jordan, M.D., M.P.H.
Board Certified

Dr. Jordan joined our practice in 2006, after being in practice in Northern California for 4 years. She was raised in Naples, Florida and graduated from the University of Florida, College of Medicine. She completed her residency at the Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C. She enjoys hiking and gardening. She is married to Eugene and they have two children.

Kathleen Merithew, C.N.M

Kathleen Jean Merithew was born and raised in upstate New York. She is a graduate of Newark Valley Central School and Keuka College with a BSN. She received her Certificate in nurse Midwifery at the Medical University of South Carolina. Kathy met and married her husband Harold in Tucson. With her marriage Kathy inherited 4 grown children, 12 grandchildren and a constantly changing number of great grandchildren.

When she is not working, Kathy and her husband travel some, but mostly she enjoys growing vegetables and flowers, reading and doing needlecrafts. She serves her church and is in Leadership for Bible Study Fellowship.

Gayle Brown, C.N.M

Gayle Brown has lived in Tucson and worked at El Rio since 1996. She is a 1993 graduate of Baystate Medical Center Nurse-Midwifery Program, in Springfield Massachusetts. She was a Nurse-Midwife in Great Barrington Massachusetts from 1993 to 1996. She is married to Joe, as a son, Travis, and two grandchildren, Dylan and Genna. Gayle like to summer in Maine, she enjoys nature, hiking, beaches, walking my dog, and is an avid quilter. Her favorite foods are Italian and Mexican.
